Very soon, on Sunday 19 October, I will embark on a 35km trek from Palm Beach to Manly’s North Head as part of the Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundations (AMDF) Bloody Long Walk. I am taking on this challenge to raise money to help find a cure for mitochondrial disease (mito) – a debilitating genetic disorder that robs the body’s cells of energy, causing multiple organ dysfunction or failure and potentially death. One Australian child born each week will develop a severe or life-threatening form of mito. Your gift could help kids like Will. Will is four years old and lives with mito. He has significant disability and will never walk or talk, but his smiles and laughter could melt your heart. Mito is the second most commonly diagnosed, serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis and yet it is virtually unheard of and as such is often misdiagnosed. AMDF funds research, provides support services to sufferers and works to raise awareness of mito. By sponsoring me, you get to help a great cause and Ill do all the hard work for you! Please click on the link below to make a donation to my fundraising page: thebloodylongwalk2014.everydayhero/au/Lois All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be sent a receipt after you make your donation. Thank you for your support – I really do appreciate it!
