Via Atascocita VFD: A weather system entering our area this afternoon brings the potential for widespread heavy rainfall to much of Harris County. The National Weather Service forecasts that rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are possible with isolated areas receiving 4-7 inches. The primary threat from this system will be street flooding caused by run-off and rises in area bayous. Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm related hazard. See the attachment for important flood safety tips. Residents are encouraged to monitor local media and National Weather Service for the latest forecasts.
