Folks, I love CIT, but the real answer is to stop letting the mental health system abandon the seriously ill. AOT allows courts to involuntarily commit the system to provide care. It is the last off ramp after Voluntary and before jail. The suspect will be charged with attempted murder once released from hospital. They know he has mental illness yet this doesnt appear to impact at all and they treat him like anyone else. So very sad - he needs mental health care not jail.
