Virgin Galactics SpaceShip Two crashed in the Mojave Desert today after suffering a major malfunction during a test flight. A witness said the #SpaceShipTwo exploded shortly after its engine fired when it was dropped from the WhiteKnight aircraft that carried it aloft. The pilot ejected and was taken to a hospital, but the co-pilot suffered fatal injuries. I recently visited Virgin Galactics hangar where the ship was being built and there was a lot of excitement about the program (bit.ly/13prsND). This is very sad news. My thoughts are with the crew.
