WANTED: Homes to sell! Home sales are improving but a shortage of listings continues to restrain market activity. February data from the Real Estate Institute shows strong sales growth in housing sales, with 6,168 sales for the month. The volume is up by 37 percent compared with the same time last year, and it is the best February result since 2008; however sales over the past two years have been low by historic measures. The national median house price remained steady for the third straight month at $355,000 and it is up 1.4 percent compared with February last year. A shortage of good quality listings continues to restrain sales and real estate agents all around the country are reporting that they could sell more homes if they had more listings. They have buyers ready and waiting to purchase well-presented, fairly-priced properties that come on the market.
