Speculation is that this time it will be worse than Sunday. Residents are advised to rather use the Ontdekkers road and avoid Main Reef road. WARNING: BRONKHORSTSPRUIT- Squatters of the Zithobeni squatter camp torched their Municipal Offices and Police station on Friday. Unruly squatters now assemble outside the Bronkhorstspruit town. Their goal is to torch the police station and plunder white businesses. A huge police contingence is present to stop them. Residents are warned to safeguard their businesses and homes- and be ready to evacuate in a moment’s notice. The situation is still volatile. WARNING: UITENHAGE WESTERN AREAS: February 05 2014: Riots are expected in the Western side of the town. People are warned to stay clear of that part of town on Wednesday. WARNING: VANDERBIJLPARK- SEBOKENG AREA: February 05 2014- Houtkopweg past YSCOR towards Sebokeng at Three Rivers already is blocked. R553 Sebokeng to Vanderbijlpark closed near the R28 crossing. Strikers already set vehicles alight. Skippie Botha /Waterdal crossing out of Sonlandpark danger areas – as well as the Wagon wheel circle is closed. Crossings near the Pick and Pay and Macro also now beginning to become danger areas.Chaos in Sebokeng so violent- kids that went to school and workers on their way to work attacked- blacks with Machetes standing at crossings to attack people. Two protesters was killed by police and one seriously injured when protesters and police clashed. Residents just chased away a bus. The bus had to speed away. Residents ran after it with sticks and knobkieries People are warned NOT to use that roads and to avoid that areas. Angry municipal employees downed tools and camped outside executive mayor Zukiswa Ncitha’s offices, demanding a 14th cheque. For most of yesterday, the usually bustling East London’s main road, Oxford Street, was cordoned and inaccessible to motorists as a large contingent of traffic cops including heavily armed public order police kept an eagle eye on workers gathered outside Ncitha’s office. The workforce vowed not to report for duty until their 14th cheque was paid. Yesterday’s gathering follows the violent standoff between workers and police on Friday, resulting in seven workers being arrested with scores being treated for minor injuries sustained in the chaos. UPDATE: LEPHALALE( ELLISRAS)- February 05 2014- Workers strike at the Medupi power station for higher wages. Tires were burned and a huge police presence are in the area.Town Mayor Meako promised the strikers from Abbospoort that he will have a meeting with the management of the Medupi power station. All is quiet at the moment. UPDATE: EMFULENI ( VAAL TRI-AGLE)- February 05 2014- The Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality, Councillor Greta Hlongwane has noted with disappointment the protest action by community members of Boiketlong in Sebokeng in the Vaal Triangle. Early this morning, protesters blockaded most of the roads leading in and out of Sebokeng making it difficult for motorists to access or leave the area. The Municipality wants to put it on record that the protest has nothing to do with the provision of basic services. According to spokesperson, Klaas Mofomme it is related to housing development in the area which is the competency of the Gauteng Province Department of Housing. The Emfuleni Local Municipality would like to apologize to members of the community for the inconvenience that the protest might have caused. Sebokeng very volatile at present with unruly mobs challanging police. Readers must please stay clear of the area- as it is starting to spill over to Boiketlong. UPDATE: EAST LONDON-February 05 2014- Police and black protesters was involved in a skirmish in the East London CBD around the issue that the protesters wanted a “14th” cheque on their salary.. Police fired stun grenades to disperse the unruly black mobsters. Readers are advised to stay clear of the East London CBD and use alternative routes. UPDATE: DISPATCH ( NEAR PORT ELIZABETH)- February 05 2014- Black protesters are striking in the Dispatch town. Stores nearby have started opening doors for employees to flee as Oxford Street runs amok with protestors on strikes. Readers are advised to avoid the area and town CBD. UPDATE: VAALDRIEHOEK-SEBOKENG-February 05 2014- Sebokeng township at the moment are quiet as most of the hooligan protestors went to their homes. The police still are keeping a vigil for any nightly flare-ups. We will keep you posted.
