WARNING: THIS IS A LENGTHY POST. HOPE YOU CAN HANG IN THERE TO THE END. Every revolution - every awakening must begin with PRAYER! We are not fighting flesh and blood, but spiritual wickedness in high places. We are warring against demonic principalities and ruling spirits in the heavenly realm. God has given us a divine strategy against our wicked Adversary. If My people PRAY! 2 Chron 7:14. Unfortunately, seems like “My people” never seem to have time to pray. We come to one or two prayer sessions and feel we have done our little part. We tire of prayer too quickly. We leave the work of prayer for the intercessors, (and sadly, even the intercessors often dont want to pray) when in reality - we have ALL been called to make intercession (1 Tim 2:1). I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land…” (Ezek 22:30). Make no mistake -Almighty God is shaking us, trying to get our attention to turn us back to Him. The shaking will not cease until we return to the place of acknowledging Him as Lord of all! Its not only Black Americans who are being shaken. We are being shaken as a nation. We have MANY idols in our lives, and for countless numbers of us, the predominating idol is OURSELVES. “And in the morning, It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and has a gloomy and threatening look. You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times” (Matt. 16:3) “And of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs; and all their kinsmen were under their command…” (1 Chron 12:32). The culture of our times is one that is overwhelmingly self-absorbed. “Like me; follow me; affirm me; celebrate ME!” We are consumed with our own agenda’s and consequently have little discernment on spiritual things at all, much less are we able to discern the times in order to know “what to do.” God is calling us to humble ourselves; repent of our idolatry and our proclivity to habitually turn away from Him. We must repent of our predisposition to live independent of Him. Many of us are pursuing the wrong things. We have become caught up in secular pursuits. Along our journeys in life, at some point, we came to a fork in the road and took the wrong path, and have been foolishly pursuing that path ever since. The Lord is calling us to go back to the ancient paths (Jer. 6:16) - back to seeking God, and back to calling on the name of Jesus with fervency; back to fasting, and back to waiting on God until He reveals His divine strategy to us. What is the agenda of God for our times? Does anyone even care about God’s agenda, or are we completely consumed with promoting our own agendas? Does God have access to our ears? Does He have access to our eyes? Does He have our hearts? Are we channels through which He can flow to bring about change? We must submit to the Lordship of Christ, and then ask ourselves, “What is the righteous requirement of the Lord for us? What is my responsibility in such times? What is the word of instruction from God to us in the midst of the shaking?” This is a time to cry out to God, to take up a lament to the God who is a Just and Righteous Judge, until He grants us justice against our Adversary. No one person is going to resolve these issues. Zech. 4:6 tells us that “It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts.” God is on the side of the oppressed, and He will hear and respond to the cry of the effectual, fervent prayers of the righteous. The bitter consequences of not having an understanding of the times are simply this – we will not know what to do. When you don’t know what to do to effect radical change in the midst of outrageous social injustices, then you remain a victim of those injustices. By failing to position yourself to acquire knowledge – you perpetuate injustice through passivity and complacency. Knowledge is power – knowledge from God. Ignorance is not bliss.
