WATCH THE WORDS OF YOUR MOUTH: (a devotion by Apostle Grant Edwards). PSALM91: 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. As a child of God, theres a Hedge of protection over your life; its placed there by God. Sadly many breach that hedge without realizing it, through perverse and unwholesome communication. PROV15:4 says,... A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit... Lets look at 1PET3:10 translated in the (GNB) ,... As the scripture says: “Whoever wants to enjoy life and wishes to see good times, must keep from speaking evil and stop telling lies. Speaking evil means saying things that contradict the word of God. There is a lesson in JOB, through his negative talking he gave satan an inroad to his life, JOB was a righteous man, who feared the lord and did what was right in his sight, and God blessed , fortified and protected him on every side. The devil couldnt afflict JOB despite trying several times. In JOB1:10, satan admitted this much:... Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land... Yet with all the spiritual walls of protection built around Job, he overthrew himself through the perverseness of his own lips. He dug holes in the hedge that God had built around him through his confessions of fear, discouragement and danger. Read part of his negative confessions in JOB3:25-26: ... For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me... I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came... This is completely opposite to the reality of his life, and what God did for him, which even satan acknowledged in JOB1:10. Dont speak words of fear, or admit that youre not in safety, irrespective of the perceived danger. Rather affirm always that no evil shall befall you, because your life is hidden with christ in God - (COL3:1). There is a danger that follows most Christians, the danger is that we can become evil by our confessions in the sight of the lord, JESUS said in LUKE6:45,...A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh... Watch your mouth, and put a guard on it, because what comes from the mouth is a manifestation of whats in the heart, PROV4:23,... Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee... Your words can make you a rich man, or you can become poor by your own words from your mouth
