WE MUST GIVE OUR BEST TO GOD Teen devotion As we worship God, we give Him ourselves. Romans 12:1 says, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. In the Old Testament some of the Jews were not offering their best to and were condemned for it. In the last book of the Old Testament...in Malachi 1:8 we read, And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts. Is it not just as evil today when we do not give God our best? god says He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If it was evil for the Jews is it evil for us? Today, we do not offer animal sacrifices as the Jews did; however, we give Him our lives in service to Him as a living sacrifice. In doing this we must give Him our all. Anything we do for God must be our very best. Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. All our heart, soul, and mind, or in other words, our TOTAL BEING must be in our worship. How do we show our love to God? Our Lord says in John 14:21, H He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. We show our love to God when we keep His commandments. We do not show our love to God if we only keep the commandments we want to keep or if we add some of our own commandments. In Matthew 28:18, before Christ ascended into heaven, He was giving His apostles some last minute instructions concerning those they would baptize. Jesus said, Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. Everything the Lord has commanded us is to be observed. We are to do all that God says and in the way He says to do it. Jesus says in Luke 6:46, But why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? I understand that today, just as I suspect with the Jewish teens of old...it can seem an impossibility to GIVE GOD OUR BEST. Giving God 95% of our best is 5% too little. Nowhere in the Bible does it say we are to fear Satan...but it does say to FEAR GOD...I would rather upset a few friends because I didnt give in to peer pressure than to fear the ONE that has the POWER to DESTROY both our BODY & SOUL in HELL...Matthew 10:28.
