WE REMEMBER Kimberly Ligon remembers- The date was September 11, 2001. The time was approximately 10:30 a.m. I was 12-years-old in the 6th grade. It was a typical day at Kenwood Middle School, except for the fact that my 3rd Period English teacher, Mrs. Doxy had not greeted us with her typical jubilant smile. Instead, there was a terrified look upon her face as she grabbed the remote control and turned on the television in the classroom. The entire classroom stood still in total shock of what was in her view. Buildings, debris, fire, and screaming were some of the visual we took in as we stared at the television. My heart completed melted. Who would cause such a terrible act to take place? Who could be so angry to have destroyed the livelihood of so many innocent American people? The principal later came upon the loud speaker and announced that the Twin Towershad been crashed into by a hijacked plane. He later mentioned that the entire school was on lock down until further notice. Parents flooded the parking lot of the school moments after the announcement in hopes to retrieve their traumatized children, but there was no luck until the all clear was given. There was not a dry face in sight for hours. That day was a day I will never forget.Continued prayer and condolences to those affected on that gory day.
