WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA We - TopicsExpress

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA We are in a break for now in between systems. We have areas of low clouds over the valleys west of the Cascades this morning, but those will burn off to give us a look at sunny skies later. Fog will redevelop tonight and most areas west of the Cascades should be seeing fog to start the day tomorrow. That fog will be short lived though as a strong front will approach us during the day tomorrow, and by Saturday night wind and rain will be arriving. The rain with this next system looks like it could be heavy at times especially at the Coast and in the mountains. Snow levels will be high so no help there for building snowpack. Expect a very rainy Sunday so I hope you did not have outdoor plans that could be impacted. The system passes through on Sunday night and we will have showers for Monday. And then that might be it for a serious rain event for awhile. The data indicates a ridge will build up over us for next week. There is some uncertainty to just how strong the ridge will be. If the one model is right, then there could be some clouds mixing in from time to time and we could see showers from the Umpqua Divide north. This would also hold temps in the 60s for highs. But, if the other main model solution plots out, we could be looking at very clear skies and highs potentially reaching 70 by next Wednesday. It is a real coin flip at this point. I am going to go with a bit of caution here because the model that is predicting the cooler chance for some clouds and showers scenario has been the more accurate one thus far this winter. But, dont be surprised if the forecasts for mid week next week suddenly turn sunnier and warmer. What the data is showing with high confidence this morning is that after this weekends system clears the area, we are not expecting a significant weather event for area for at least the next week......possibly much longer than that. This may turn out to be the last serious rain producer of the season at this point. Time will tell of course, but the trend is taking us to drier weather for the remainder of March for sure.
