WEDNESDAY, APRIL 02, 2014 DEVOTION: “My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others? For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor—well, doesnt this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?” ~James 2:1-4 NLT DO YOU PRE-JUDGE?: In the world we live in today we have to be very careful how we associate. Men do not all come with tattered clothes and dirty fingernails, they also come with rings on their fingers in well- tailored clothes and expensive shoes. We often cross to the other side of the street when we see a person not in what we consider as proper attire only to be scampered or deceive by a “wolf” in sheep’s clothing. This is the attitude that is practiced when we face the world. This attitude cannot be practiced when a person obeys the gospel or visits when we assemble to worship God remembering the sacrifice Christ made for our justification. When respect of persons is shown by Christians toward other Christians and/or those who come to listen to the gospel in our worship, God is not pleased. Christians are to carry attitudes of congeniality at all times. They are also to be watchful especially when dealing with the world for it is the domain of Satan. Worship services are the domain of the Lord and we must function with it according to the way He dictates in His word – the Bible. Your friendly attitude may lead someone to Christ whether you are in worship or working on your job. ******************************** MEMORY VERSE: A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” ~Proverbs 18:24 KJV
