WEEK 7 of HEALTH CHALLANGE Sleep Goal -- Checking your clock throughout the night? Move the clock out of reach and out of sight. When the alarm goes off, you’ll have no choice but to get out of bed and start moving. You’ll discover that you will stop worrying about how much longer you have left to sleep. Activity Goals -- Are you injured or have a chronic condition? Don’t let that slow you down. It is a self-paced, self-guided program that offers practical tips or goals to kick start healthy habits that can last a lifetime. The purpose of the challenge is to increase a person’s performance by concentrating on three areas of their life – sleep, activity and nutrition. Each week there are different goals for a person to try and reach. For more information on the 26-Week health Nutrition Goal -- Make at least half your grains whole. Whole grains contain the entire grain kernel ― the bran, germ, and endosperm. Commonly eaten whole grains include: popcorn, whole wheat bread or crackers, oatmeal, brown rice. There are many types of whole grains, to learn more visit: choosemyplate.gov/food-groups/grains.html choosemyplate.gov/videos.html Fort Carsons Army Wellness Center is hosting a 26-WEEK HEALTH TEAM CHALLENGE. Teams can join in the challenge at any time during the 6 months; they will conduct their challenges independently -- how to improve and measure the health and wellness of their team members; they can be any size or group of Active Duty, Family Members, Retirees and/or Dept. of Defense civilians AND the teams can receive a TROPHY for integrating the Performance Triad and showing the greatest improvement. 4th ID has already challenged their entire staff to participate!
