WELCOME TO UGANDA WHERE WE DO NOT ARREST CRIMINALS. WE JUST SHOOT THEM DEAD. Our courts are back logged and our jails are full. May he rest in peace. ------------------------------ A 40 year old man in Iganga town was shot and died shortly after being admitted at the Jinja Regional Referral Hospital following an incident in which a security guard on duty at Stanbic Bank Iganga Branch attempted to shoot at a suspected ATM fraudster. The deceased identified as Jamada Kakuku, a special hire cab driver in the town was hit by stray bullets at around 5:00p.m on Monday. Kakuku is said to have been hit when bullets bounced off a wall. He was rushed to Iganga Hospital from where he was referred to Jinja Hospital. He is said to have died of over bleeding moments after he was admitted. Iganga District Police Commander, Mr Herbert Nuwagaba, said the guard who was identified as Aeron Faizo, was trying to shoot at a suspect who had earlier allegedly defrauded Shs600,000 from an old woman who did not know how to use the ATM machine. “The man entered into the ATM booth and the old woman gave her the card and pin number to withdraw for her Shs100, 000 but after completing the transaction, he gave her a wrong card and retained hers,” he said. He said after the woman had left, the suspect re-inserted the card and withdrew more Shs600,000 from the account. The guard is said to have become suspicious after the suspect who allegedly had several ATM cards on him returned to the ATM booth and spent there more time than expected. However, when asked what was keeping him there by the guard who was on duty, the suspect reportedly started running which prompted the guard to shoot in an effort to stop him. The suspect, a resident of Nsambya in Kampala was arrested and by press time was under custody at Iganga police station. monitor.co.ug/News/National/Man-killed-as-guard-shoots-at-suspected-ATM-fraudster/-/688334/2574134/-/jx3llvz/-/index.html
