WEST VIRGINIA STATE POLICE PRESS RELEASE Office of Public Affairs Lieutenant Michael Baylous Telephone: 304-746-2198 The members of the West Virginia State Police were involved in the following incidents recently: Harrisville, West Virginia – On Monday, November 17, 2014, Senior Trooper C. T. Speece, of the Harrisville Detachment, responded to a private driveway off of Nutter Fork Road, near US Route 50, in Ritchie County, in reference to a body found in a pond. With the assistance of the Ellenboro Volunteer Fire Department Dive Team, it was determined that a vehicle drove into the pond. The victim was identified as Mr. Malcom Morehead (62 years of age, from Parkersburg, West Virginia). No other victims were discovered. Mr. Morehead’s body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death. Foul play is not suspected in this incident; however the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Any questions or requests for interviews should be directed to either Senior Trooper C. T. Speece or Sergeant C. E. Boring at 304-643-2101. Parkersburg, West Virginia – On Monday, November 17, 2014, Trooper S. S. Michael, of the Parkersburg Detachment, responded to a fatal crash near the 11.0 mile marker of US Route 50 in Wood County. Trooper Michael discovered a Chevrolet Cavalier in the eastbound lane which appeared to have rolled several times, causing both occupants to be ejected. Through the course of his investigation, Trooper Michael determined that the vehicle had originally been traveling westbound before losing control. Ms. Angel Lockhart (40 years of age, from New Martinsville, West Virginia) died at Camden Clark Hospital as a result of her injuries. Ms. Chrystal Knighten (21 years of age, from Middlebourne, West Virginia) was transported to Camden Clark Hospital and then transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time. The investigation into this crash continues as the cause of the crash and which occupant was driving still needs to be determined.
