WESTERN STAR Sept. 24, 1908 BOOZE THE CAUSE Morris Rogers . . was arrested [for] giving away liquor to a number of men on election day. . A crowd of young fellows . . near the factory of the Lebanon Canning Co. on Cincinnati road [were] under the influence of liquor and [had] indulged in shooting crap . . “Check” Welsey . . was arrested for drunkenness and signed the pledge to refrain . . for one year. [His] year [was] a short one for . . 8 days later . . while drunk threw a stone at a [friend and nearly] killed him.
