WHAT DO WE VALUE? TRAINING OR EDUCATION OR BOTH? -------------------------------------------- One thing is for sure. The Congress isnt making friends sniping at the HRD Minister for not being sufficiently loaded with degrees. She is an undergrad who is just a school passout they say. Similarly, many people are sniping at Chief Designate Dalbir Singh for not having done the elite Staff College Course, thereby setting up (in their eyes) a dismal record in terms of qualifications. We should pity the nay sayers for their immorality and total lack of understanding. Training is a spin off from Pavlovs response and allows us to give reactions based on stimuli we confront. It is a linear method of stocking up in linear information. Trained people are on a common grid, understand what is needed and react faster. You need trained people in war, peace, politics, in Ministries including HRD. What about education? It is several levels abovev Training and ALLOWS YOU TO EXAMINE AN ISSUE DENOVO; WITHOUT PRE-PROGRAMMING OR BIAS. IT ALLOWS YOU TO THINK OUT of THE BOX, INTROSPECT, FIND VIABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM, PRIORITISE THEM, EXAMINE WHY YOU CHOSE THE SOLUTION YOU DID AND ITS ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES... Educated people also do not shoot off their mouths and observe more than pontificate. Education does NOT need training other than what lifes experiences offer. On the other hand mere training is sometimes a sure recipe for disaster because life has a surprise at each turn but Training prepares you for predictability. Education lives and thrives in uncertainty, chaos, mayhem, friction,..It utilises luck, chance when these occur. Given these parameters does it matter that Smriti is only 12 class pass? Dalbir is non-psc? It may be that they may work better without this linear baggage. Let us therefore stop laughing at people who arent qualified. It may be that the real laugh will be on those who ridicule...
