question- I was diagnosed with IIH (opening pressure was 36 cm) and have been taking Diamox and Topamax with no noticeable improvement to my symptoms for several months. I dont have persistent headaches, just a feeling of intense pressure whenever I bend over or strain (lifting, pushing, pulling, etc). I also feel this pressure when I lay down to sleep, when I take a shower or exert myself to any degree. It is extremely uncomfortable, and if I push myself too much, it becomes painful and I have almost blacked out. My eyesight has not been compromised so far thank goodness, but my daily quality of life has been impacted. I am also dealing with late stage breast cancer so having to manage this on top of everything else is extremely frustrating. My question is...if medication fails, my doctors have talked about placing a shunt. I want to avoid this if at all possible. I have read that acupuncture can help people with this problem. Does anyone have experience using this as a treatment for IIH?
