***WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW*** (Updated July4-5:30pm) -It is VERY important to pay attention to radio/web/social media for the next 24-28hours. -The river will be at 2011 levels and come sooner than expected. (Saturday afternoon.) -They are projecting a quick peak by tomorrow at noon. We should see the water go down a couple of days, go up again, and then stay steady for a couple of weeks. -The Province has declared a State of Provincial Emergency as of today. But soldiers coming Saturday are going to the Portage/Headingly area. -Evacuation PREPERATION sheets are being delivered tonight north and south of the river starting at 6:00pm. -Where do We GO? Centres are set up at ACC North Hill Campus and the Keystone Centre. -The city has opened the fence by at Michaels Home Depot/Walmart/Corral Centre, and blocked. It will be un-blocked in the event of a quick evacuation. -Evacuation ANNOUNCEMENT will be broadcast through the alerting siren, radio stations, social media, the City’s website (Brandon.ca) City official will also attempt door to door visits. -Two buses are ready to go if you have to evacuate at the Airport and the Brandon School Division has dozens of buses ready. -Brandon Police Service will be providing traffic control throughout the City with the focus being on minimizing traffic on 18th Street. -Brandon Police are currently setting up their secondary location north of the river, Fire Department is set up. -Work is continuing on the Grand Valley dike to ensure it is stable enough to withstand the flow of water. Crews are working adjacent to Eleanor Kidd Park and building up the dike curves. Conservation Drive will be done as soon as possible. -Pumps are in place -The Enquiry Centre will remain open from 8-8. These hours will be expanded if necessary. -Need information or questions answered? Call the Enquiry Centre at 729-2186 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.
