WHERE ARE WE!! Where are we when I still see the people of yesterday in todays! The relevance of community living is vastly loosing grounds in Thy hearts-the same hearts to pilot the dreams to better us. Where are we, when I see a people becoming peoples. The significance of a whole is being discarded by many to marry sects relevance. Yes, I say sect relevance because other colours are now MOST IMPORTANT to us than the three colours of our birth. Where are we, when information meant for the understanding consumption of the rest of society is not only being mixed like palm wine tapper does, but even sold at some point. Is this journalism or pen brutalism? They purport to seek and stand for the general good but with two faces-one for thyself and another for the people? With my hand on my chin, seated under that tree of our heritage, I heard them crying and demanding for a freedom. What freedom? I suppose I heard them say to speak freely and access freely. Hmmmmmmmm. My grandfather before he journeyed to that unknown land once told me this: a man who says he speaks for the benefit of others should not go around shouting it rather, he should be seen neutral. But every issue today is being politicised. Few days it was the Airport incident and now the Njala. Where are we when those who keep telling others to stop doing this and do that are doing it in the reverse? Save the few people who even though they arent perfect but yet manage to keeping doing the right things. A sober drunkard, yes, a sober drunkard once asked me this question: between the law makers those expected to abide by these laws, who is LAWLESS? I stare at him for sometime and asked him myself: why do you ask this question? After staggering left and right and back and forth, with his left blocking the many gasp from his mouth he told me: so many laws are enacted everyday and everyday I see these laws violated but no punishment meted upon the defaulters. Is that the defaulters had a good defence (when they should not) or...? I turned round to see if there were people passing and whispered this to him: it seems as if you have a point but I think both are lawless. But he shouted no, its the law makers. Are people being fined or even punished for throwing dirt in the street, which pile normally are the first to greet visitors in the country? What about cars parking in the streets? What about those stealing the countrys money? What about, what about...no let me leave that Where are we when those who are victims and for whom the right measures are being taken cry foul play? Yesterday, many kept crying over the dilapidated state of our countrys education. Today, government is saying no pupil will write the W.A.S.S.C.E until and unless they had passed the B.E.C.E. Even though its a great move to curtail the poor performance of the country at W.A.S.S.C.E, parents keeping crying again that government is not helping matters. Are these views of parent-born or partisan-born? Education should be regarded as the pillar of every countrys development. Therefore, lets dont politicise it significance or else, we are heading for doom. But even though we are here, we still have the opportunity to leave and be there. Where? Nowhere else but at that apex of patriotism; that point of love for one another; that point of respect for each other and respect for the laws that governs us. YES, WE CAN!!!
