WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING: JA AND CA EDITION THE CAPITALIST WHITE SUPREMACISTS TOLD US IN-DEPENDENCE AND INTER-DEPENDENCE WERE INTER-CHANGEABLE -- Somebody once asked Marcus Garvey, who was born in Jamaica, if he was an African or a Jamaican. Garvey responded, I will not give up a continent for an island.” The Monarchy of Jamaica is a constitutional system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign and head of state ofJamaica, forming the core of the countrys Westminster-style parliamentary democracy. The terms Crown in Right of Jamaica, Her Majesty in Right of Jamaica, or The Queen in Right of Jamaica may also be used to refer to the entire executive of the government of Jamaica. Though the Jamaican Crown has its roots in the British Crown, it has evolved to become a distinctly Jamaican institution, represented by its own unique symbols. The present monarch is Queen Elizabeth II—officially titled Queen of Jamaica—who has reigned since 6 August 1962. She, her consort, and other members of the Royal Family undertake various public and private functions across Jamaica and on behalf of the country abroad. However, the Queen is the only member of the Royal Family with any constitutional role, holding ultimate executive authority, though her Royal Prerogative remains bound by laws enacted by her in parliament and by conventions and precedents, leaving the day-to-day exercise of executive power to her Cabinet. While several powers are the sovereigns alone, most of the royal constitutional and ceremonial duties in Jamaica are carried out by the Queens representative, the governour-general. The Canadian Prime Minister is not elected to that post. Canada is divided into 308 electoral districts (often known as ridings) and each one elects an MP to the House of Commons. The Governour General [The Queens representative] then appoints as Prime Minister whichever MP is most likely to be able to form a lasting government - this usually means the leader of the largest party. The Canadian Prime Minister is the head of government but not the head of state. The Canadian head of state is the Queen of Canada, Queen Elizabeth II. As she does not live in Canada, she appoints a Governor General to perform her duties, which are largely formal and ceremonial in any case. In fact the Canadian system is almost a carbon copy of the British one, which is of course where it came from. SO TO ALL AFRICANS OF THE DIASPORA WHO CLAIM THAT THEY ARE JAMAICAN OR CANADIAN FIRST. TIME TO RETHINK YOUR POSITION. BECAUSE ACCORDING TO OUR FORMER COLONIAL MASTERS, AS LONG AS YOU PLEDGE CITIZENSHIP IN THEIR COUNTRIES THEN YOU ARE STILL THEIR CAPTIVES AND SUBJECTS OF THEIR QUEEN. THEREFORE, IT WOULD BE WISE FOR YOU TO CLAIM YOUR BIRTHRIGHT AS A LIBERATED AFRICAN. FOR THOUGH AN AFRICAN LION MAY BE BORN IN CAPTIVITY IN THE BRONX ZOO, THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM AN AMERICAN LION. HE IS STILL AN AFRICAN, AND SO ARE YOU... Peter Tosh - African - Montego Bay, Jamaica 1982-11-27Jamaican World Music Festival https://youtube/watch?v=dMRGmJjbtzw
