WHY DIDNT YOU TELL US?... Evelyn is one of the ushers at her church, she is the door keeper, and her face is the first face one sees when entering in. Evelyn was always smiling, and praising God, many people joined the church partly because of how she made them feel when she greeted them. When service would began, Evelyn would keep watch at all that was going on; she knew who needed help with their kids, she knew who needed water, she knew who needed napkins to wipe their tears, and she was there to assist them while shouting and praising God in between it all. As new comers would leave out they would shake Evelyns hand and tell her how she made their experience with them a great one and how her smile would brighten their day. But Evelyn had a few secrets she had kept hidden for months, she had lost her job, her furniture and car was repossessed, her daughter was taken from her because she couldnt provide for her, and to top all that off she found out she had cancer. But just like clock work Evelyn would go to church, smile, take care of the peoples needs, and praise God like nothing was wrong. Sis. Presley,( another member of Evelyns church) who knew everybodys business and told everything she knew, she found out from one of Evelyns neighbors that the people had took Evelyns car, after finding that out she began to seek out what was going on, and by the end of the week she knew it all. Sis Presley went to Evelyns house on a Saturday evening, Evelyn came to the door and preceded to step outside with Sis Presley, but she was lightly pushed back into the house, accompanied by Presley. Presley said; you dont have to be ashamed, I know all of what youre going through, WHY DIDNT YOU TELL US? How can you be smiling and greeting others with so much trouble? Evelyn said: I know you dont understand how I can smile, help others, and still praise God in the mist of all my suffering, but God deserves the glory when Im up and when Im down, and dont be so concerned about what Im going through right now, because I know the blessings that will come out of what Im going through. Evelyn said: When you see me smiling and praising God, Im letting the enemy know this is not my end, and Im declaring that after this, I shall walk into a new season, and this is the beginning of the best years of my life. Later on that night as Evelyn began to pray, she asked God why did he have to let Sis. Presley find out what she was going through, knowing she would tell it to the whole church, and when God answered her question her eyes filled up with tears. The next day is Sunday, and when Sis. Presley walked into the church doors, the first face she saw was Evelyns, still smiling and praising God. Evelyn grabbed Presleys hand, pulled her close, and whispered in her ear these words....God told me last night that you had to find out what I was going through, because what Im going through is for you. Presleys eyes filled up with tears as she let out the biggest gasp of air, she pulled away from Evelyn and swiftly walked to her seat. She paid little attention to the service because she couldnt help but think about what Evelyn had spoken to her. Suddenly, half way through the Pastors sermon Sis Presleys phone rings, she walks outside to answer the call after she noticed the number was from her daughters cell. The voice on the other side the phone was not one she recognized, and the news she received brought her to her knees. Presleys daughter had been involved in a car accident and the doctors didnt think she was gonna make it through the night. Presley arrives at the hospital only to find her daughter in a coma, Presleys heart is broken and her eyes expressed so much pain. Not my baby; she cries with a loud voice, shes all I got, lord please save my daughter. Three weeks later and theres still no sign of recovery, the doctors orders them to pull the plug. Presley is devastated, she locked away from everybody, she didnt answer any calls, and she accepted no visitors. The day of the funeral she couldnt bare it, she broke down right there in front of her daughters casket. All of a sudden she felt two arms wrapped around her and whispered in her ear very softly saying: REMEMBER ME! When she opened her eyes, there stood Evelyn with that smile, and when she saw her, she found her strength. This is part of what God was preparing you for said Evelyn, you will get the next part very soon. Presley stood straight up on her feet, dried her eyes and said: Lord I praised you when everything was going well, and I will praise you right now in my pain. She kissed her daughter good by and smiled as she walked out the door. On her way to her car a young girl walked up to her, took her hand and said, you had to go through this because God is preparing you for ministry, ye shall be the voice that will change the lives of many, and you had to experience loss to be able to preach to them who will lose. Presley looks at the girl with amazement and asked: what is that fragrance you are wearing because the sent is very familiar, the young girl replied: you should know momma, you gave it to me on my birthday, then she disappeared. Presley eyes filled up with tears as she smiled and went on her way. Many lives were changed because of Presleys ministry, and she never forgot the word God told Evelyn that came to pass, HE BROUGHT ME THROUGH FOR YOU!! (Evelyns Dance!) After Evelyn had suffered so long, never giving up on life, neither did she turn away from God, but she prayed. Lord, she said: I thank you for what I see you doing in Sis Presleys life, how you quickly came and tended to her needs, and how you caused her to go to new levels in her ministry. Here I am, still suffering and sick, and it dont seem like nothing is changing for me. Now Lord, I know I did all youve asked of me, there were times I wanted to cry, but I didnt, times I wanted to complain, but I didnt, times when I wanted to stop going to church, but I didnt, and there were times I even wanted to give up on life, but you told me not to give up and be strong. SO NOW LORD, WHAT ABOUT ME? One month went by and Evelyn got no answer from God, but she knew she had to keep on moving because she loved God so much. Late one evening Evelyn decided she would take a nap because she was feeling weak in her body, so she went to her bedroom, climbed into her bed and quickly fell asleep. Suddenly she was awaken by a hard shake, but when she opened her eyes no one was there. As she sat up in her bed, everything in her room got dark, and what she saw next just blew her mind. There was a hand that was writing on the wall of her bedroom, and this is what was written: I didnt forget about you my child, I was just preparing your blessing. Now go to her, she found what she needed in you, and you will find what you need in her. Go quickly, shes waiting! Evelyn didnt think twice, she already knew who she had to see, and without hesitation she found herself headed to Presleys home. As she walked down Presleys street she was approached by a woman sitting on the street, the woman spoke to her and called her by her name, Evelyn she said, Yes Evelyn replied, the woman slipped a piece of paper in Evelyns hand and told her she would know when to open it, then the woman walked away. A few steps further she ran into the second woman, who approached her in the same manner, gave her a box and told her she would know when to open it. Now she arrives at Presleys home, and there was Presley looking and smiling. Evelyn walked up to Presley with tears in her eyes, Do you know why Im here she asked, Presley spoke in a voice full of excitement, Yes she said, you are here because God said you were looking for a blessing, He told me to tell you, you deserve more than that, he want to give you a miracle. Presley told Evelyn these words: Go to your doctor, he will have a different report, God said the cancer is gone, she continued on saying, that piece of paper the first lady gave you, thats a check wrote out to you from a neighbor who you never knew, shes the one who told me when they repossessed your car, she was watching you, she saw how you walked before God like nothing was going on, you helped her to hold on because she was suffering too, she said you will never need for anything again. Evelyn couldnt hold back her tears, all she wanted to do is get home and give God praise. As she turned to walk away, Presley shouted at her saying...THIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO OPEN THAT BOX....My My MY! Evelyn opened the box and in it was a key, as she turned towards where Presley was standing, there was a beautiful white car, she ran to where the car was, and Presley spoke these words to her... GOD TOLD ME TO TELL YOU, YOU HAVE BEEN RESTORED!! Evelyn Danced all around that car, praising and giving thanks to God for bringing her out. Story written by: Cynthia Harvey!
