WHY WE DO CULTIVATE CULTIVATE was set up to service a need for world cinema, political cinema and experimental cinema, so our focus is more towards screening films that wouldn’t usually get screened in commercial venues. We do everything from experimental film screenings to re-scoring movie soundtracks live. Our membership varies in age, gender and social class due to it being free to join and to attend we hit a very wide demographic as well as drawing in the occasional tourist. CULTIVATE views film as an important educational as well as cultural tool to date we have screened over 200 films and hopefully will go on to screen many more. Our remit has always been to bring art to the people and create a welcoming space for people to engage in films of a more underground nature. Art should be for the many not the few.
