WILL RESETTLED ASYLUM SEEKERS BE GRANTED PNG CITIZENSHIP? The asylum seekers have been resettled here but there has been no announcement on their official status. Are they going to be granted PNG citizenship? I am against this idea if it ever comes to that becos those boat people dont have a genuine claim to it. They never wanted to be in PNG so that rules them out and they should not be considered for citizenship now or in the future. They should remain as refugees until Australia or a third country decides to take them in. Granting them citizenship will only make it cheap. Citizenship to us PNGans has more significance than it can ever mean to these ungrateful flotsam. All their intents are set on Australia. The great big land down under.
