WIP Outtakes Early 1849 Dr. Mitchell Kersey brushed a piece - TopicsExpress

WIP Outtakes Early 1849 Dr. Mitchell Kersey brushed a piece of grass off his coat sleeve as he watched the two packages sink under the surface of the millpond. He tossed the key to his house into the waters murky depths, and left to catch a steamship bound for San Francisco. He felt a vague sense of satisfaction at a job well done, but at the same time a slight disappointment that he would never be able to share this particular accomplishment with anyone. As the porter for the steamship hed booked passage on checked in Kerseys trunks, he asked, Will you be traveling alone today, Dr. Kersey? In a clear, firm voice, looking the porter directly in the eyes, he lied. No, my wife and daughter will be along shortly. My wife is a bit emotional about this journey, and she stopped to say goodbye to her parents one last time. He winked at the porter. You know how women can be. The porter smiled and winked back, seeming to enjoy the manly humor. Aye, sir, I do know. I have a wife and six daughters at home. Six daughters! Dr. Kersey leaned back and widened his eyes. You have your hands full. Watch out for the handsome men trying to woo them away from you. The porter sighed and shook his head. Its already happening, Doctor. Theyre quite beautiful, the lot of them. Good luck to you, then. Dr. Kersey turned and headed up the wooden gangplank, stepping carefully on the crossboards. Once aboard, he headed straight to the bar. He ordered himself a Scotch whiskey and lit a congratulatory cigar. The band played Radetzkys Marsch by Johann Strauss, thumping against Kersey’s heart. He drummed his fingers on the bar to the rhythm of the march. This was going to be a fabulous adventure. Tagged by Loucinda Aunty Cindy McGary in this fun WIP outtake activity.
