WITH enrolment period currently in progress in some schools, students and parents are being advised that no school is allowed to accept school fee payments. And primary and secondary schools have been told by the Education Minister Filipe Bole that only accepted students names should be noted after registration. At this stage schools can only take their names — there are no fees and deposits to be paid by any child either in primary and secondary, Mr Bole said. And with the focus now turning towards the new school year, the minister said his ministry was ready for it. He said there was no teacher shortage in the country. Yes we have adequate teachers, we dont have any teacher shortage any more, Mr Bole said. He said the three universities — Fiji National University, University of the South Pacific and University of Fiji — were producing enough teacher graduates. We have the USP, FNU and the University of Fiji, they all train teachers so we dont have shortage of teachers. He said the teachers in the education sector were well trained and qualified. fijitimes/story.aspx?id=251091
