WITHERNSEA: SEVEN SHEDS BURGLED ON KIRKFIELD ALLOTMENTS. Overnight Saturday 12 into Sunday 13 July 2014 seven sheds were broken into at the Kirkfield Road Allotments in Withernsea. All the sheds had been locked. However, the offender(s) forced entry, causing damage to all the doors, and they stole a number of items. One shed was so badly damaged it will need to be replaced. The items stolen were a Mantix Cultivator, a Rotavator and a Petrol Lawnmower. Local neighbourhood police officers will be helping the allotment holders to make their property secure and prevent further incidents. Chief Inspector Mark Coulthard of Holderness Neighbourhood Policing Team says, This was a terrible shock for the hardworking allotment holders when they returned to tend their plots on Sunday. “We would like to catch those responsible for these crimes as soon as possible and ask for the public’s help in identifying those responsible. “Allotment sheds can be very vulnerable, we would advise any items of value are removed and stored securely at home or at the very least security coded with post codes etc and registered on the national property registration site immobilise. All of these will aid in the return of any recovered items. “Anyone with any information regarding who is responsible for the burglaries in Withernsea are asked to contact the local police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting Crime Reference CY/2056041/2014” As part of a summer burglary campaign Humberside Police are encouraging people to follow the @humberbeat twitter account and #HPBurglary hashtag for information about how Humberside Police are tackling burglary in addition to advice on crime prevention. The public also have a role to play by calling Humberside Police if they have information about people responsible for thefts or handling stolen goods. They should call 999 in an emergency, 101 in a non emergency or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. ow.ly/z8pey
