WORRY NO MORE In Matthew 6:24-34, our Lord, Jesus Christ warns us against being too anxious about temporal things – food, clothing, the number of days we are to spend in life or any other thoughts of the future. As we must not boast of tomorrow, so we must not care for events of it. In other words, we must not be anxious for the future. We should remember that our times are in God’s hands. While wealth and welfare are a welcome human desire, the lack of them should not cause unnecessary anxiety. The Bible says that worries about tomorrow do not advance our cause at all; they are absolutely useless. God knows our needs and so He gives us enough grace, enough provision for each trial and situation we face. Instead of being anxious about the events of tomorrow, we should learn to focus on serving the Lord wholeheartedly, doing our best and leaving the rest to Him. To do this, we are expected to run the straight race with Him – no distractions or diversions – with firm belief in His wisdom, power and goodness. To conquer anxiety and care, we should have absolute trust in Him that He is working out the answer. Let us leave tomorrow’s troubles for the One who bore our troubles on the Cross.
