WORSHIP SONG for TUESDAY - Words are interesting things arent they? We can write them and someone else can read them and we gain an understanding between two human beings - and this can be done in a few thousand languages and dialects! We can speak words out loud and others can answer out loud and the conversation that those words become can be comforting, aggravating, infuriating, loving, joyful, bland and a few dozen other things. And we can also speak words to ourselves in a type of self talk that most of us engage in regularly. And this self talk can build us up or bring us down. And of course we can use words to commune with our Heavenly Father in prayer as He then speaks to us through His Words found in the Bible. Words, words and more words...they never cease, never run out and never fail to cause some reaction. And the Bible tells us as much when it says that life and death are in the power of the tongue! Written so long ago but so true and relevant today. So what about our words? Are they truthful? Encouraging? Hateful, condemning and aggressive? Do we speak with passion about that which we believe and do we share that which will build people up and help them to make eternal decisions? And when we engage in the self talk that everybody does, do we speak truth to our own souls? And how about the words we use in prayer to God? Are they nothing more than veiled complaints or laundry lists of God gimme? Or are they formed out of a heart of praise and thanksgiving rising before the throne as a sweet aroma of worship before God Almighty? Words are powerful and can be used to tear down, rip apart and destroy but they can also be used to bring comfort, joy, peace and even that which bears eternal benefits. Today and every day, choose your words carefully and if you are a Follower of JESUS, do what He did when He walked planet earth - speak the TRUTH in LOVE! Oh, yeah, as an earthly proverb warns us....watch out with the words you use, for you might just have to eat them someday!
