WSBT has received many calls from viewers questioning why we allowed Congresswoman Jackie Walorski to use a clip of our newscast in her ads. Some viewers have taken it so far as to ask why WSBT is endorsing this candidate. Rest assured that WSBT does not endorse ANY political candidate. The reason WSBT is running this ad is because TV stations are required by Federal Communications Commission regulations to accept advertising from federal candidates and we are not permitted to alter or censor a candidates ad in any way--even by removing a clip of our own newscast. WSBT would rather not be included in any politicians commercial. But we dont have a choice in this case as we must follow the rules of the FCC as it regulates the broadcasting industry.
