This is a known tactic of An Garda Siochána. They have used it in the past against the McBrearty family when they tried to frame them for murder and also against Frank Shortt and his family, another innocent man also framed. The ongoing Ian Bailey case which is going all the way to the Supreme Court also raises serious questions about the actions of the Gardai and how they use rumour and innuendo to destroy peoples characters and by doing so they isolate them and put severe pressure on every aspect of their lives.
