Wadi Showka run report. October 8, 2014. Started just before 6:00 am. Temperature was great until about 9:00 am or just before. One farm was burning stuff which polluted the air for one or two Ks, but it wasnt too bad. Completed 31k. Was hoping for more, but meh, it was a good time and Im still seeking the return of my mojo. Ran with Simon and his wife (aka better half) most of the way. I did go check out the Showka pool which is 1k from the track at about the 5k mark (from the water tower). More water there than I have seen previously. Unfortunately there was also lots of trash, including food leftovers which have attracted some wasps. Nevertheless, it is beautiful and probably swimmable - depending on your willingness to expose yourself to whatever is in the water. I swam / cliff jumped there a few times in 2013. For some reason Im more cautious now. Cold gatorade at end of run was divine. Looking forward to a run on Saturday.
