Waipukurau drew good entries in both divisions, 17 2nd and 19 Open riders turned up to kick off the Parklee Bullride Series on Saturday evening. This was the 10th bullride in Waipukurau and what a great crowd turn out it was. The addition of the Big Screen this year gave the spectators a new twist to the night and it proved to be very popular. The long round in the 2nd div saw 7 qualified rides being Logan Nation 65, Callum Tahau 61, Seb Gower 60, Luke Chase 59, Luke Gilberd 58, Karl Howard 56 and Nathan Atkins 55. The short round of 6 saw 3 qualified rides being Logan Nation 67, Callum Tahau 62 and Luke Chase 61. Congratulations to Logan Nation for the win at his very first Bullride event. In the open the riders were getting on the 2nd cut of the Parklee Bucking Bulls due to the top 15 bulls who bucked at the PBR New Zealand Cup on Thursday staying home for a rest week. The bulls that did make the trip proved their worth in the Long round with only 7 qualified rides being made. Brent Gallagher 82 points on the un-named bull (21), Johnson Davis 76 on ICU, Jonny Ward 73 on Uncle Arthur, Klay Lanigan and Nigel Baker 68 on Molson Canadian Sabre Tooth and The Warden, Sam Mckay 64 on Andersen Building Crankhandle and Ernie Rika 63 on Uncle Cracker. The short go was an exciting spectacle Bulls 5 Riders 1, Johnson Davis going 75 points on The Kid and securing the event win. Standout bulls for the night were the new Madcap, Bar Bender, and Spotlight. 3 weeks of rest now till Bullmania in Warkworth Fri 5th Dec and Paeroa Battle of the Bulls Sat 6th Dec. BE THERE!!!
