Waking up to a bright morning, the chilly air smells fresh. I - TopicsExpress

Waking up to a bright morning, the chilly air smells fresh. I think about the tasks that lie ahead, the prospects for the future are outstanding; The Wtitivism Festival will open in Kampala next week on 18th June and the gods whispered to me that #WallsAndBorders will shine ;) But above all, Kampala will be alive with celebration of art and writing. I am looking forward to meeting and seeing great African writers like NoViolet Bulawayo of the Man Booker Prize, Jenniffer Makumbi of the commonwealth prize fame and the lovely Zukiswa Warner among other greats. I will take selfies with them. You too can come to the National Theatre between 18th and 22nd June. While down in Kigali, I had the chance of meeting great young leaders to discuss the future of our region and how we can build synergies for that. Particularly, meeting Dr. Joseph Nkurunziza (who has become a mentor of sorts) we talked about a great project that could see us engaging various young leaders in the region. I am looking forward to the developments. You remember when Writing Our World hosted Jordan Hartt from Conversation Across Borders for a workshop (Inside, Outside and Upside down) in Kampala in March? Well, we are currently having great discussions on how the newly rebranded org from CAB to Kahini can help develop writers in Africa and spark conversations with writers and people from across borders. As coordinator for Africa region, I am excited about the prospects. And, this July, Writing Our World will be turning 3 years as an officially registered NGO. I am keeping in town just to make sure I am part of the commemoration. We are also starting on a strategic planning meeting for the coming years. However, lots of activities will come your way and on each of these, you will eat cake! Kampala, today, let the sun shine bright. Let it cast light in all the dark angles. Let it bring joy in hearts, especially, in her heart.
