A few days ago, I found myself in this self-proclaimed Revolutionary bookstore almost exactly at the time they were starting an event. They were discussing the writings of Bob Avakian, who is supposedly the chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party. Revolutionary Communist- remember this, it becomes pivotal later on. We ended up getting a bit more heated when they discredited the Rainbow Family, Burning Man, and other Music festival cultures as a possible mode of Global Revolution. In fact, they disagreed with the possibility of peaceful Revolution altogether, spoke disparagingly upon all police officers- even as humans, and asserted the necessity of toppling the system in one fell, violent swoop. I tried to explain that we, as Citizens, need to assume responsibility for the perpetuation of corporations, and to that end, We The People then have ultimate Power as a collective. I asked what their final solutions were. They replied it was all in a draft: The Revolutionary Communist Party Manifesto (not Marx). Stunned, excited, skeptical, and greatly ambivalent was I as a person handed this to me, seeing its physical form. Given my history with Festi Culture and the hour long conversation we had just engaged in, I asked if it had just been gifted to me.
