Want to help the environment? Join the Green Fee Committee at NEIU! The Green Fee Committee is responsible for spending the funds accrued through the $3/semester Student Green Fee for campus sustainability projects. The committee is composed of students, faculty and staff and typically meets several times throughout the school year. Projects implemented so far include an electric car, motion sensors, bike racks, tree planting, energy efficient lighting and solar power panels. We have one student-at-large open position for the 2014-2015 academic year. If you are passionate (and somewhat knowledgeable) about environmental issues in general and campus sustainability issues in particular, please consider applying for this position. This year, a special emphasis will be placed upon web site / database design and campus community outreach / education. Students with skills that match these goals will be prioritized. Student members attend meetings, conduct research on proposals, oversee implementation of sustainability projects, and vote on the funding of projects. Please do not apply unless you have time to devote to this committee (2-5 hours per week). This is a very important and responsible volunteer position that allows student members to leave behind a tangible legacy. NEIU undergraduate or graduate students who are registered for at least 3 credit hours may apply. The application form and instructions can be requested by emailing [email protected]. Completed forms are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the committee and the final candidate selected by vote. Candidates will be notified of the committee vote as soon as possible after the deadline.
