I dont know if you heard, but he was severely wounded by gunfire at his parade yesterday. His family from the Chicago Defender was at his bedside hoping and praying that he would pull through. But even though he was in pain, he pulled me close and whispered, tell all the decent hard working black people on the south and westside of Chicago to gather their families up and move...get out of Dodge while you can. yall cant pray your way or march your way out of this social Ebola epidemic. I begged him not to talk and that he should rest. But Bud insisted that he had to say what he was feeling while he still had breath In his body. He whispered In my ear, tell em, if they can afford it, sell their houses and if they rent, tell them don t sign a new lease. Just like they caught the first thing smokin out of Mississippi when the lynchings increased and Emmett was murdered. I said, but Bud, Chicago is the most segregated city in the Country and the white folks will throw rocks at your kids and burn watermelons on your lawns. Thats a bunch of crap...its these jack-legged black preachers and politicians who just want You to stay in the hood and keep re-electing them and keep on buying the pastor fancy cars. Yeah, I know theres crime all over the city and suburbs...but where you living now is worse than Iraq....you cant even walk down the street or sit on your front porch in the summertime without some gang banger spraying bullets all over the block. I know you scared to uproot yourselves, but this aint the 60s no more....The housing laws are on our side now . and there are lots of decent communities who would welcome hard working decent black folks. But you got to first Leave them crazy gun shooting, dope dealing, folks behind to destroy themselves..You aint their brothers keepers. You are your familys keeper first. And above all, if you take my advice and move out , dont leave no forwarding address for your dog ass cousins to visit. P.S.
