They are stating they need cash for essential gas works that need undertaking. If a Council official comes to a property they will always carry identification with them. If you are not sure of their identity, open your door with the chain-on or look through a door viewer. Ask the official to pass their identification through the letterbox. Call Runnymede Borough Council and check the identity of the person at the door. The telephone number for RBC is 01932 838383. If you are not sure don’t open the door.
