Was He set up? Matthew 12:13 “Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.’ I think I know what happened. Since the Pharisees asked the question, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath Day;” they most likely planted the man with a withered hand in the synagogue with the deceitful desire to create an incident and entrap Jesus. With wisdom Jesus answered their statement with a question, asking them if it was lawful to help an animal out of a ditch on the Sabbath. Of course it was perfectly in order to do so. Then why was it not lawful to help a man on the Sabbath, who was worth so much more than a sheep. The common people agreed, but the leaders sought to kill Him. One of the greatest problems the leaders had was being critical fault finders. They sought to find fault in the Lord and even tried to create the problem so they could satisfy their hatred for Him. It is critically erroneous to be a fault finder. God did not create us to examine one another and look for faults in each other. He does however command us to love one another and encourage each other in the faith. In fact, God goes so far as to say, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1 Pastor Wilson (7-1-2013)
