Was looking at SLY SQUAD page... went to about, and i found this... now i know how hardworking are they... Mikey Sylar... see this In the year 2009, 4 former school mates joined hand together to renew their interest in music field. Those 4 persons would be AC, Kuma, Body-G and D7. Idea flourished to make the first single and within 3 months the first single, Enthe Pennilum v.2009 was done. The song was composed by Shane X’treme, a young music composer who was making name for himself in the industry. Joined in with the troop was Mista Carey, who have been doing music alongside with Bigsyze, another hardcore beat producer hailing from royal town of Klang. 5 of them made name for themselves with the success of Enthe Pennilum v.2009. With 5 members in the group and with the idea of representing the neighborhood they came from, the group was named S.L.Y Squad which means Selayang Squad. The group then added another 2 more rappers in the form of Kash Young Boi and also C-Snav. In the month of January 2010, Mista Carey launched his first underground album titled CareyLin and this event kick started the rise of S.L.Y Squad into prominence though they were already making name among listeners with the melodious rap track, Enthe Pennilum v.2009. The first single and another club banger named Readi’ya was included in the LP and the rest become history. Underground gigs, college shows and gigs call up was in the line. Enthe Pennilum v.2009 was the aired via the major radio stations and it cemented S.L.Y Squad’s name into the heart of young listeners especially college students. The song was listed in the charts and it rose to fame. The group then added another rapper known as R.i.E. Practice makes perfect seemed to be the best words to be used when S.L.Y Squad came out with the 2nd single titled Yenna Yennai Seithai in the month of Feb 2011 after being silent without any major song for almost a year. The song’s composition and the transition between melody and rap showed the maturity that they have attained within a year being absent. The song was listed in top charts in the major radio stations and received heavy airplays on daily basis. To add feater to the cap, the song was listed as number 55 in the Top 100 Songs of the Year 2011 by THR Raaga. Performances came flooding in and the troop was known for their energetic yet funny presence on the stage while performing. Short sketches performed in the intervals of songs became a trademark for S.L.Y Squad. A number of underground tracks were released notably Arab Money Remix, a cover track that was a favorite among heavy hip hop listeners and featuring call ups started to become a normality. End of 2011 was the turning point which made S.L.Y Squad, a force to be reckoned in the music industry with the release of Inni Vendham. A single by Thyivya Kalaiselvan which featured Shane X’treme, D7 and Mista Carey become the manthra for Malaysian teenagers and senior citizens as well. With the combination of mesmerizing voice of Thyivya, soulful melody by Shane X’treme, melting lyrics by D7, and catchy raps by both D7 and Mista Carey made the song a phenomenon like no one has experienced in Malaysian Music Scene. Social platforms, radio stations made the song to be known all around Malaysia. Being listed in the chart for almost 15 weeks and being the number 1 song for 10 weeks running showed the magic woven into it. With the ground works planned for an album, the pre-production started with the boys working on perfecting each area day and night and the effort was rewarded in the month of June 2012 as the first album of S.L.Y Squad titled Ithu Chumma Trailer ( I.C.T ) was launched in grand scale which saw the attendance of about 850 people which was a record to be said for an album launching attendance. The next day, Inni Vendham’s official videoclip was released and it was like an atomic bomb impact as the video went viral not only in Malaysia but also globally. Tamil speaking listeners all around the world had Inni Vendham’s chorus synced to their lips to be singed along. The video became the first Malaysian made official videoclip that crossed 1million hits in term of views. Apart from that, tracks from I.C.T such as Yenna Yennai Seithai ( Sad Version ), Iravu, Maunam Yennadhi, Kuruvamma, Tepi Sikit, Nee Yenggey and Karetthe Maa’ma become so famous and it really showed that these boys from the hood of S.L.Y mean serious business in the music field. 5000 copies of album were sold without even being distributed by any major distribution house deal. September 2012, S.L.Y Squad performed in the pre-event of Yuvan Live @ KLIMF 2012 which the led to performance call up in the mega event itself which was held in December 2012. A mixtape project was announced which was titled as Naangge Naangge’Thaa Neengge Neengge’Thaa Freetape Edition 1.0 and the first 2 tracks from the project, which was Jokko by AC and Tin Kosong by R.i.E was a social platform hit and it showed the diversity in genre and also to prove that S.L.Y boys are not the masters in melody track alone but yet all the other genres as well. All the artist from the S.L.Y group started to have featuring call ups for their own and it is proving to be a successful combination for the artist working together with them as the songs reaches commercial success in the radio stations and the proof of this would be Ninaithu, a single by Thyivya with D7 and Shane X’treme and also Vanjipavaney, a single by Sai Sudha, with the rap done by Mista Carey. An interesting fact could be associated with both of this track as both of it were competing among itself to hold the top spot on the MM Top 10 chart for weeks. Call up to perform in Malaysian Hip Hop Makkals which was held in Singapore would be the best proof to show that S.L.Y Squad has been listed among the elite performers of Malaysian Tamil music scene. Currently working on numerous album projects whereby the details will be unveiled soon. 2014 promises a lot for these talented bunches of Machanz, a tagline that has been associated with them, which is Tha Machanz from S.L.Y. Six T Eight Hundred Records owns and holds all the copyright of S.L.Y Squad.
