Watched DELIVER US FROM EVIL tonight. Supposedly based on true incidents (yeah, right) Eric Bana is a no-nonsense New Yawk cop that encounters a group of possessed people that eventually ends up threatening the safety of his wife and daughter. For the first two-thirds of the movie, its effectively creepy with good atmosphere. So imagine my disappointment when it spends the last 10-15 minutes on a spectacularly uninvolving exorcism. I dont know about anyone else, but I for one am tired of scenes of priests yelling Latin phrases at someone who is possessed by demons while lights flicker and things fly around the room. Based on the (easily) hundreds of horror movies Ive seen, it seems the ending is always the hardest part to stick the landing. This movie is no different.
