Water Advisory to Clinton City drinking water system users: Water - TopicsExpress

Water Advisory to Clinton City drinking water system users: Water samples taken on August 6, 2014 tested positive for E-Coli which is an indicator that the water may not be safe to drink. An advisory does not mean that the water is contaminated, but rather that it could be. Because the water quality is unknown, customers should assume the water is unsafe to drink and take the appropriate precautions such as using bottled water and discarding ice made with tap water. A suspected point of contamination on the system was discovered where a resident had cross connected the secondary (irrigation) water with the drinking water system. This has been disconnected and disinfection procedures have been started but the safety of the water for drinking will not be known until test results come back Thursday afternoon. An update will follow as further developments take place.
