We all know theres a chance that there is money waiting for you in the USA, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and Canadian cities of Alberta, British Colombia and Quebec where you once lived in. If you didnt know, Ill cover that in a moment. First, its important to know that the site is free. Anyone telling you to pay up front is scamming you. Check out scambusters.org for more information about companies that scam people. Did you know that if you call area code 807, youll be charged money for it. So, even if a company offers you a free service, youve already paid them by accepting to pay a per minute charge while calling them. Brilliant!! About 10 years ago I bought a Whole Life Insurance policy. 2 years later I stop making payments. About the same time, the Agent quit his job and failed to tell me that my policy had earned some cash. I didnt know it was there. I went to unclaimed.org and clicked on the states that I lived in (NY, FL, TX and GA). I actually had $75 from Florida from a speeding ticket that I overpaid and $300 from the Life insurance policy. You have to enter your name for each state. Dont go to websites that let you do multiple sites as they will charge you a fee to give you access to the money. Take the extra step and get it yourself. This applies to all 50 states PLUS Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec, Canada. Step 1 - Go to the website Step 2 - Pick the state Step 3 - Click on Search for unclaimed property Step 4 - Enter first and last name (in most cases you dont have to enter the city Step 5 - Fill out the contact information Step 6 - Wait for the claim form to be mailed to you Step 7 - Fill out form and include picture ID and relevant information to prove you are or were the owner of the document. For example, I had to show proof of the life insurance policy (NEVER THROW THINGS AWAY - SCAN THEM TO A FILE FOR PERMANENT FILING). Step 8 - Mail the information back and wait forever to get your money (just kidding - it did take about 2 months). Step 9 - Call me and let me help you invest that money for something good since you never had it before you read this.
