We almost died on the road between Borj El Hawas and Hassi - TopicsExpress

We almost died on the road between Borj El Hawas and Hassi Messoud. The road that was supposed to be there as per the GPS turned out to be a very dangerous and completely unpaved random tracks. Our car got stuck twice, the first time we received help quickly from Tuareg people who drove to help us after seeing us from far, but the second time was far more serious. The car drifted away from the path and got stuck in the sand, very far from the main unpaved road. The amount of cars passing by this road is like 10 cars per week, and even with that, we were far away from it and covered by a small hill. We got stuck from 10 AM until 7 PM with no food and little water and with temperature above 50 degrees sometimes. We spent the whole day digging below the car trying to make it move, but it just kept on getting stuck more and more. We had to stop in the end because of the heat and lack of water. Then a sand storm decided to make our trouble worse. We hid in the car expecting to be stuck there until death. As darkness started to cover the place, we lost any hope of getting out of their alive. Minutes later, I noticed something really small moving from a very far distance. It wasnt coming our way, and it was really far, but we ran anyways pointing a laser light toward it. I dont understand how they saw us from that distance, but they did, and they turned their car towards us. The headlights of that 4x4 was the most beautiful thing Ive ever seen in my life. There were three Algerian Sahara people on board. They dragged our car from the sand and asked us to follow them back to Borj El Hawas because its too risky to continue. On the way back, they stopped in the middle of the desert and cooked dinner for us and we spent the night in the desert and next morning they guided us back to town. On our way back to In Amenas, we met them again in Borj El Hawas and they invited us for lunch before letting us continue our way. Im going to publish the images and names of these wonderful people soon.
