We are all given faces of love--a relative, a teacher, a neighbor, - TopicsExpress

We are all given faces of love--a relative, a teacher, a neighbor, a coach, a big brother, a boss, or a mentor. Those faces, whether they were in our lives for a day or decades, serve as a window through which we peer into the glory of God. Even so, our nagging doubts do not entirely go away: Maybe the dream is all a nice fable, a good story, but not true. . . . Nothing exposes our utter powerlessness & potential for betrayal like loving someone. Nothing causes us greater ambivalence than love. . . . Faith & hope take us to the greater comfort & most radical danger of our lives: Love. Love calls us to open our ambivalent hearts, wait in desire, embrace others for a time, and then free them to follow the calling of God in their own lives. --Allender
