We are at 20 teams, Summer League registration is closed. Not only do we have 20 teams but we have a ton of legit teams. I foresee very few blowouts and many what people would call upsets this summer. I think the Championship will be won by the teams who show up every week. I’ve split the league into 2 conferences and 4 divisions. The teams within these divisions are strategically placed there based on their performance last year. The schedule will reflect this as well. How did I do this? All the teams were ranked from top to bottom according to their performance in their conference last year and where they ended in the playoffs. After that, we dispersed the new teams throughout these standings. I have an idea of some of the new team’s rosters and I did my best to take this into consideration. After the standings were established, I broke each conference down into 2 divisions, an even numbered division and an odd. In doing this, each division should be equal…theoretically. Of course there will be surprise teams, some better than expected and others; not so much. But overall it should all shake out by the end of the season. I’ve gotten a lot of emails and have had a lot of conversations regarding the following topic. The Schedule and the Playoffs: Teams will play an 8 game schedule. They will meet the 4 teams within their division, then play 3 games against the equally seeded teams throughout the league, and then 1 more game against a team of similar stature within their conference. Everyone seemed to agree that this was fine. The traditionally strong teams would play a tougher schedule than the traditionally weaker teams. The controversy arose when we started talking playoffs. The following is not perfect but the consensus was this was the best we could come up with. The top 2 teams from each Division make the playoffs...That’s fair. Here is the controversy; the top 2 teams will be determined by their record within the division. For example, let’s look at Orange Division 1 below. For the sake of the example, let’s pretend that the teams are seeded from best to worst based on their projected performance: Let’s assume that the Beavers finish the season 7-1, they are in. In second place could be the 4-4 Bar Down Boys, if all four of their wins were within Division. Why is this fair if the Pink Panthers are 6-2? The Bar Down Boys are a #1 seed and they would have played a much tougher schedule than the guys at the bottom of their division. Does this make the out of Division games meaningless? No, it doesn’t. If the Bar Down Boys and the Pink Panthers are both 2-2 within the division, the first tie-breaker will be the over-all record. With only 5 teams within each division, I foresee at least 1 tie breaker scenario this year. FYI, the next tie breaker, is the season’s goals against total. This brings me to my next point…Score Keeping. Referees will be keeping track of scores this year. And not only scores but who scored them. At the beginning of each night they will receive a score card that will be handed back to me at the end. On this score card will be the numbers of the individuals who scored. This will not only help keep better track of the scores (which is obviously important) but it will also help in the choosing of the All-Star Teams. More details will follow later in the season regarding that though. There is a lot to digest here. And understand, I run the league based on what you guys want. If there is a problem with something, tell me. If enough people think it’s a problem, we will revisit it with the captains and see what they think…Anything is up for debate and a vote. Oh ya, Ill have Lenapelacrosse.net back up in a couple of days. Orange Conference Orange Division 1 1. The Bar Down Boys 2. The Beavers 3. Fightin Pierogies 4. The Law Sharks 5.
