These awards are aimed to be the most prestigious and credible Healthcare Awards in India. Fr. Bel-Air College of Nursing along with UIC have received a grant of 190000 US dollars from the United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF) under a joint program of the President of US and the Prime Minister of India to promote research collaboration between institutes of Higher learning in India and USA. It is the first time that a nursing college in India is receiving a US government grant for collaboration with an American University. Bel-Air hospital established in 1912 was the most famous TB Sanatorium in India. From 1964 management of the hospital was transferred to Indian Red Cross Society, Maharashtra State Branch. But it had an unfortunate decline to the verge of a closure. In 1994 Missionary Congregation of Blessed Sacrament (MCBS) took up the administration of the hospital under the leadership of Fr. Tomy Kariyilakulam MCBS and embarked upon a project of revamping and modernizing the hospital. Now history has reached a full circle by Bel-Air being nominated the top hospital in the country. Fr.
