We are living in dire times. Many of the people are going through extraordinary seasons of economic challenges. Many of them are having to choose between grocery on the table and gas in the tank. Religion has a way to cause one to think that just because they dont have much in terms of material wealth that they are somewhat less than another. But that is not so. I am reminded that Jesus was homeless and often hungry yet His life impacted and continues to impact us each and every day. I am reminded that Elijah the prophet lived off of public assistance. He had his food brought to him by a bird and then a widow who was almost as worst off as he was but Elijah raised the dead, ransacked the kingdom of Ahab, challenged Jezebel, and rose up a prophet who was even more miraculous than he. Dont let the circumstance fool you. Your credit may be jacked up. Your car may spit and sputter and your home may not be ALL THAT, but when all of this brick, steel, and cotton fades away, what really matters most to Heaven? Your fascination with the fruit of the earth or your submission to the will of God. All of this will pass away. Build your life on that which is eternal.
