We are looking for graduates who are willing to spend 3-4 months in Bajhang and gain experience in an education project. Check out the details below or in our website olenepal.org/ In 2013, OLE Nepal, in partnership with UN World Food Program (WFP) and Nepal Government’s Department of Education, is launching laptop-based education program in ten public primary schools in the remote far-western Bajhang district. The ultimate aim of the project is to cover all the primary schools in the district within five years so that students all over the district can benefit from the technology-enhanced teaching-learning method. The introduction of laptops to students and teachers will be accompanied by the following activities: 1. Free distribution of digital educational content developed and maintained by OLE Nepal 2. Teacher training on effective integration of technology in classroom teaching 3. Installation and support of network and power infrastructure in schools 4. Local capacity development in monitoring and support of project activities OLE Nepal is organizing a special “Volunteer Program” where trained young graduates will spend three months in school communities to provide assistance in project implementation and school support. Volunteer Program has emerged to fill the need for a hands-on assistance to teachers and schools on using technology effectively in classroom teaching-learning process and to guide students and teachers to utilize the resources made available through the project. We are looking for energetic individuals interested in being part of this pioneering project that will transform education in the country and make learning fun for children in our classrooms. Volunteers will get a unique opportunity to learn about the application of technology to enhance primary education while gaining invaluable insights to the challenges faced by schools in remote areas. Initially, the volunteers will spend one month at the OLE Nepal office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, learning about technology, digital resources, pedagogy, education system, and community relations. At the time of the project launch, they will accompany OLE Nepal’s training and deployment team to Bajhang to assist in teacher training programs, school network and power installations, and laptop deployment. The volunteers will then spend the next three months in Bajhang supporting schools. Teams of two volunteers each will move from school to school, spending about a week at each school working with both the teachers and students to make maximum use of the laptops and digital resources. The first batch of volunteers will return before the Dashain holidays, and there is the possibility of continuing for another three months after the holidays. The goal of the program is to help get the laptop-based program running smoothly at the schools, and ensure maximum use of the technological resources made available to them. Remember that students and teachers in these schools have never seen, let alone used laptops before this program is introduced at the schools. However, based on our experience, they can easily start using them in classrooms and in other constructive activities with some initial guidance and facilitation. All the teachers also get seven days of training from qualified trainers before the launch at the schools. The volunteers will also identify local resources and train them on providing technical and programmatic support to the schools after the volunteers return from Bajhang. All the costs including travel to and from Bajhang, food and lodging stipend, and other miscellaneous expenses will be covered by the program. Program duration – September – February 2013 September – November beginning: In Kathmandu Mid November – Mid February: In Bajhang Benefits of the program: a.
