We are now in the midst of a Mitford weekend (fans coming from nine countries), celebrating the last stop on Jan Karons national book tour for the release of SOMEWHERE SAFE WITH SOMEBODY GOOD--slated to be next weeks #2 on the New York Times Best Seller List. (Interested fans may watch the great video of Jans interview on the 700 Club this week by going to the700club and clicking on Guest Bios/Interviews.) At this mornings Mitford Tea, J.B. and Lynn (Mayor and First Lady) delighted their audience for two hours with the real Mitford--the people, places and stories here that have inspired the Mitford novels. Lynns father was mayor for 14 years prior to his death; J.B. has been mayor for almost 20 years; Lynn was secretary of First Baptist Church 20+ years. As you might imagine, this family has been one of the authors biggest inspirations! (It was my pleasure today to accompany Lynns singing Do You Really Care? and The Wonder of It All.) Marshall has been asked to speak for Jans Prayer Breakfast in the morning at Chetola; and tomorrow afternoon the publishers are hosting a lakeside event at Chetola that now has standing room only.
